In our Spring Concert, Nova Linea will present two full-length works. To begin the performance, the company will remount our inaugural piece, Lineage, choreographed by Artistic Director Jared Baker, with adaptations and new dancers. The words “Nova Linea” (New Line) stem from the concept of lineage, and how each of us can leave our own legacy. This legacy can be simultaneously influenced by our past, our present, and even our future. As we recognize the growth and journey of Nova Linea since the premiere of Lineage, we also celebrate the stage career of Artistic Director Jared Baker as this will be his final performance with the company – allowing him to solely focus on choreography and directing.

In the second half, The Living Room, choreographed by Artistic Director Jared Baker, transports us to a quaint, eccentric, and whimsical setting that explores the concepts of isolation and self-discovery.  Choreographed to Beirut’s newest album “Hadsel”, the piece reflects on the power of going inward, learning more about your own identity, and creating space for change. In a review on the album, Ben Cardew describes the album like “a lonely man who has invited his imaginary friends to a party”.  In The Living Room, we see an individual who imagines her life filled with all the things she desires and needs, only to discover that those things exist inside of her.

Our newest work “The Living Room” is graciously sponsored by Accent On Dance.

“Lineage” was made possible by The Farrow Family in 2021.
