FAMILIES ARE EXPECTED TO READ THE FOLLOWING INFORMATION

All dancers and parents/caregivers are expected to read, understand, and adhere to the following:

BY SIGNING UP FOR CLASSES AT DBSD YOU AGREE TO HAVE YOUR CHILD’S IMAGE USED IN PUBLICITY FROM TIME TO TIME, AS WELL AS ON OUR SOCIAL MEDIA. WE DO NOT PUBLISH NAMES. IF YOU DO NOT WANT YOUR CHILD’S IMAGE USED PLEASE ADVISE US BY EMAIL DBSDOFFICE@GMAIL.COM

Fees that have been deposited are not refundable. In the unique case of illness or a medical issue a credit may be applied to your account, a doctors note will be required

  • Please read and be familiar with all pages of the website

  • Placement of students is decided by DBSD teachers and staff. Placement is dependent on a number of factors including, but not limited to, age, class size and dancers level and ability

  • Challenge classes must be applied for. If an appropriate challenge is available the program runs Sept-Dec. Students should not expect to be included in the challenge class choreography, this is a training program.

  • Existing DBSD clients will be given first choice of their recommended classes. All spots will be opened immediately following the recital, and filled on a first come first served basis, there is a cut-off time to accept these placements, after which the spots will be opened up. Save your spot early to avoid being put on a wait-list for your chosen classes.

  • No fees will be refunded once they have been deposited ( see above for exceptions)

  • DBSD reserves the right to cancel/or decrease the time allotment of any classes due to low enrolment.

  • Students are required to come to class in the appropriate clothing and footwear as

    outlined in required dress.

  • Parents and caregivers are asked to drop dancers off at the door to the studio where staff will greet them and help them get ready for dance. Pick-up is also done outside. You are free to come in to speak to staff, make payments, ask questions etc. We have found that limiting parents in the lobby over Covid has been very beneficial for staff, and dancers. This practise will continue.

  • Only water is allowed in the dance studios

  • Our change room is a gender-neutral space, as are our washrooms

  • Please help to keep our facilities clean, and speak to your children about how to be

responsible in this fashion as well

  • There are two small steps to enter 120 Regent Ave East. Clients should be mindful of the step entering and exiting the building. There is a sharp turn upon entering. Clients should ask for assistance if required. The studio phone number is 204-222-9368

  • DBSD is not responsible for lost or stolen items. We highly recommend that all

belongings be labeled. Valuables should not be left in the change room

  • All questions or concerns should be directed to Ms. Barb. A meeting will be set up if

necessary. Please contact Ms Barb at dbsdoffice@gmail.com

  • Competition students may not be able to take part in competition if fees are outstanding. Always reach out if you need assistance in any way!

  • We assume all students are taking part in the year end recital unless notified otherwise. This also means the family agrees to pay the additional fees associated with the show, including costume fees, and ticket fees, and recital fee as part of the registration

  • Families understand and agree that students will not receive costumes, or be able to take part in the year end show if their dance account is in arrears

  • Please contact us if your child will be absent— 204-222-9368, or email dbsdoffice@gmail.com Attendance is very important and the success of the class, your child’s dance learning, and the learning of others depends on excellent attendance. Do not send your child to dance if they are ill

  • BE A POSITIVE ROLE MODEL BOTH IN AND OUT OF DANCE . We ask dancer to practise kindness, and respect towards all their fellow dancers and teachers

  • Any parent, caregiver, or student found to be creating conflict, using inappropriate language, making derogatory, racist, homophobic, or otherwise negative comments toward DBSD staff, teachers, or other DBSD clients, or any people at dance events we are attending, will be reprimanded. If after meeting and discussing the issue the negative behaviour does not cease the offender may be asked to leave DBSD.
